A dove was sitting on a tree branch nearby. He saw the poor ant in trouble. Quickly, the dove plucked a large leaf and dropped it into the pond near the ant. The ant climbed onto the leaf. The leaf floated safely to the bank, and the ant climbed out. "Thank you, kind dove," said the ant. "I will help you one day." A few days later, a hunter came. He saw the dove and aimed his gun.
